Privacy policy

This is a translation for convenience. The German version is legally binding.

In short

  • No analytics or tracking tools, no ads, no cookies.
  • Fonts and images are served from our own server. Loading a page sends no data to Google, Steam, YouTube or social networks.
  • Our server fetches the Steam news itself – no data about you is passed on.
  • At most, your language choice is stored, and only in your own browser.

2. Hosting

This website is served via Cloudflare Pages, provided by Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St., San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. When you visit the site, Cloudflare processes technically necessary connection data: your IP address, date and time, the requested address, amount of data transferred, browser and operating system information and the referring page. This is required to deliver the site and protect it against attacks (e.g. DDoS).

The legal basis is our legitimate interest in providing the website securely and reliably (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). We have a data processing agreement with Cloudflare (Art. 28 GDPR). Cloudflare may process data in the USA; Cloudflare is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (adequacy decision, Art. 45 GDPR), and the EU Standard Contractual Clauses apply in addition. We do not analyse any personal access logs ourselves. More: Cloudflare privacy policy.

3. News from Steam

News and patch notes for Occultus Vitae are fetched by our server from the public Steam interface (Valve Corporation, Bellevue, USA) and cached for a few hours. The request is made by our server, not by your browser – Steam learns nothing about you. Images from Steam posts are also delivered through our server.

4. Links to other services

We link to Steam, Discord, Spotify, the Apple App Store, Google Play and YouTube, among others. None of these are embedded: only when you click such a link do you leave our site, and the respective provider processes your data under its own privacy policy. We do not embed third-party videos; our trailer is hosted on our own server and only loads when you play it.

5. Storing your language choice

When you switch languages using the language switcher, your browser remembers this choice in local storage (localStorage, key “p2s-sprache”) so you land in your language on your next visit. The entry never leaves your browser, is not sent to us and is not used for tracking. Legal basis: § 25 (2) no. 2 TDDDG (a function you explicitly requested). You can remove it at any time via your browser settings (“clear site data”).

6. Contact by email and contact form

If you use the contact form, our server sends your details (name, email address, subject, message) as an email to our inbox; nothing is stored on the website itself. We need the required fields to be able to reply.

If you write to us – by email or form –, we process your address and the content of your message to answer your request (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR for contract-related requests, otherwise Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). Our mailbox is hosted by Hetzner Online GmbH, Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany, under a data processing agreement. We delete the data once it is no longer needed and no statutory retention obligations apply.

7. Your rights

You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object to processing based on Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (Art. 21). You can withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future. Just write to [email protected].

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, for example the one responsible for us: Landesbeauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit Nordrhein-Westfalen, Kavalleriestraße 2–4, 40213 Düsseldorf, Germany.

8. Privacy in our apps

The KopfKino app has its own privacy policy.
